Flipturn Interview Okeechobee 2018

INTERVIEW: Flipturn | Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival 2018

by • March 19, 2018

I’m getting some Freddie Mercury vibes from this dude, right now!!”

– Shirtless, dancing guy in the crowd

You would think Flipturn already knew they were rockstars … until you meet them.

If they hadn’t heard of Flipturn before, every being in The Grove Friday, March 2 was quickly transformed into a new fan. (Reference shirtless guy above who didn’t stop shamelessly dancing the whole set.)

The humble five-some hail from Ferdandina Beach, FL and took to the “BE” stage like it was a hometown show. It’s an exciting time for the young band as they shared Okeechobee’s 2018 stacked bill with other artists they admire, the likes of Hippo Campus and The Districts

They won the Destination Okeechobee competition outright, which, basically means there was no disputing their destiny to step foot* on the main stage this year.

*Barefoot in lead vocals/guitar Dillion Basse’s case.

We were eager to sit down with Flipturn after their packed Friday afternoon set and let time get away from us as we chatted about stage antics, their creative process, and all the interesting people you meet at festivals.

Their latest song “Churches” is the first single off their upcoming record due out this Spring! Look out for the EP they call, “the most exciting music we’ve done, yet.”

Madeline Jarman — bass
Taylor Allen — synth
Adrian Walker — drums
