Mike Gordon returned to The Spirit for Suwannee Hulaween 2017 to play another amazing set at The Amphitheatre Stage and get the Friday afternoon into full swing. What a beautiful day to slappa the bass and put a smile on my face.
His set at Wanee 2011 was one of my favorites that year. This year, the Phish bassist and his side band were up against The Polish Ambassador which honestly was a tough decision to make. Ultimately I decided to watch all of Gordo’s set.
His new album, OGOGO, was released on September 15 via Megaplum/ATO Records and there were a few tracks that showed up on the setlist including on “Pendulum,” “Whirlwind,” “Steps” and “Go Away.”
The one hour and fifteen minute set opened with “Victim” and also included the almighty “Yarmouth Road,” and ended with a sweet cover of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion” which kind of sounded like there was some “Tweezer” influence woven in. Thank you, Mike, for bringing a little bit of the Phish to the park!
Watch the full set viedo below, courtesy of The Sober Goat, and you enjoy myself!
