Tim Barry is a born and bred Virginian, and has been active in the music scene since 1990. Starting out with Avail, one of the seminal punk rock bands of the 90’s, as well as folk punk “supergroup” (Young) Pioneers in 1994-5, the main focus of Tim’s since the turn of the century is his solo music. He’s released 8 studio albums since 2004, along with a couple of demo/live albums, and man oh man, there are some amazing songs spread across those records. I’ve been lucky to catch him a couple of times, but my favorite will always be sitting/standing with maybe 100 other people on the patio of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, singing along and just feeling like a part of the family.

Lots of folks, yourself included, might better know Tim as the lead singer of Avail, but he is so much more than that. He’s one of the best singer/songwriters I’ve probably ever heard. He was a stand out on the old Revival Tours of yester-year, and since then, he’s only improved leaps and bounds in terms of songwriting and telling a story. There is nothing fancy, but Tim doesn’t need to be. He’s just a man up there with a guitar, singing out his soul. Here’s a couple of my favorite tracks!
