Pray for Paris Eagles of Death Metal Shooting

BREAKING: Shooting at Eagles of Death Metal Concert in Paris | Prayers From Florida #PrayForParis

by • November 14, 2015

I want to preface this with my discomfort for the word “Death” in the band’s name. The reports so far have identified five different locations of terror attacks in Paris, France, including a brutal massacre at the Eagles of Death Metal’s sold out show at the Bataclan, a venue which holds around 1,500 people. Over 100 fans at the show were murdered. Here’s a quote from one of the fans who made it out safely:

The Terrorists shot at us for 10 – 15 minutes. It was a bloodbath.”

Trevor and I were just at Riot Fest Chicago, where Eagles of Death Metal performed. Had either of us lived in Paris, we would have been at that show.

Shows should be a safe place of positivity. The thought of someone crushing those walls with fatal violence is unfathomable, disgusting, and heartbreaking. What fucking kind of person (or persons in this case) would massacre innocent fans of music? The one thing that brings the entire world together! It sickens me that these people breathe the same air we do. Here are some live feeds of what is still a developing story:

There’s a very useful interactive map of where the attacks occured one NYTimes.com  http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/11/13/world/europe/paris-shooting-attacks.html

Here’s a statement Eagles of Death Metal made on their Facebook page.

We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.

President Obama says

This is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values that we share.”

Our hearts go out to the victims of these senseless attacks. Shows I Go To will be putting together something to benefit those affected by this tragedy. Stay tuned.
