Minus the Bear return to Florida for three dates in May 2015 with support from Into It. Over It.
… only this time minus a drummer. Founding member Erin Tate decided to leave the band earlier this year due to “personal and creative differences.” Minus the Bear’s drum tech filled in during an absence on tour last fall to good reviews, so he would be the logical replacement. Erin’s talents will surely be missed, but let’s face it: MTB has always been known for the slick guitar riffs & finger tapping of lead guitarist Dave Knudson. Surely they will carry on bringing the tunes. Check out this live performance of “Steel And Blood” from Episode 62 of Live From Daryl’s House (Of Hall & Oats).
Contrary to their previous stops in Orlando (HOB, Wall Street Plaza & The Beacham), this show will be at a decidedly smaller venue. The smaller setting should please fans old and new alike at the promise of a more intimate show. And speaking of the long-time fans, they will be excited to know that all three Florida stops will feature a special anniversary set for Minus The Bear’s third EP (released in 2004) They Make Beer Commercials Like This.
One would also expect a peppering of songs off their latest release, Lost Loves, containing rare and previously unreleased material. That coupled with crowd favorites such as “Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse” & “Pachuca Sunrise” should make for a rocking evening at The Social or any one of these events (Read Our Live Review of Minus The Bear Sell Out The Gramercy Theater In NYC).
Also not to be missed are openers Into It. Over It. A perfect blend of pop-punk goodness, math-y guitar riffs and endearing lyrics. Their last two albums (PROPER & Intersections) have solidified a full band lineup and differ greatly from the solo sound on earlier material. They make it easy to want to show up early just for them before catching Minus The Bear.
