Born 2 Ride, Down 4 Life! (hed)p.e. are one of my favorite bands and they just released their new album Forever! today! The nu metal hip hop reggae punk rockers’ release comes from Pavement Entertainment and offers a much anticipated new record since 2014’s Evolution was released two years ago on this very same day. The new shiz sounds dope and is the perfect balance of old meets new. What you can expect is a hard hitting, well organized album that mashes up many genres with a mix of business and pleasure lyrics about love, government and society. Gristly groove metal with rap flows, punk-rocking riffs, inspiring lyrics, and seductive reggae joints take you on an awesome auditory ride.
The band offered a pre-sale that bundled the album with a limited edition shirt and a limited edition bonus CD titled Family Fresh featuring guest collaborations with Twiztid, Blaze, The Roc, Playboy the Beast, and more. Hopefully those limited edition offerings will still be available for a little while longer with online orders or at their shows for those who missed out. For now, buy the album wherever you like to buy your music. But apparently, Hed must have a really good deal with Best Buy and really want you to buy their album there, so do that if you’re still one of the instant gratification brick-and-mortar type shoppers. Or you can go to itunes. Just don’t let your ears miss out. I listened to the album this morning on Spotify while doing the dishes before going to work… true story.
The band originally formed in 1994 in Huntington Beach, California. After 20 years, 11 albums, thousands of shows, and several lineup changes, only one original member remain, frontman Jahred. But in 2008, drummer Major Trauma (Jeremiah Stratton) solidified his spot, and in 2015 Gregzilla (Greg Harrison) and Kid Bass (Kurt Blankenship) took over on guitar and bass, respectively.
Hed recently played at West End Trading Co. in Sanford back in May (check out my full review HERE). The show started out with a new track “Pay Me” from the upcoming album. As the song was ending, Jared proclaims:
“The system is rigged! Look Around. Oil companies guzzle billions of dollars. Wall Street CEO’s, the same ones that crashed the economy, walking around Congress acting like we owe them something! Fuck that! Corporations are not people. Corporations are not people. People have lives, people have families, people have children and that fucking matters. That fucking matters!”
Buy the new album and check out a show near you. Peep the Forever! tracklist below as well as their upcoming tour dates. Hed will be filming their new video at the July 30th show at Home Bar in Arlington Heights, IL.
