This is going to be the weirdest show of the year, and I feel confident saying that, even though it’s only February. I honestly don’t know if Will’s Pub’s walls can even handle it, and I couldn’t be more excited to learn about this extremely interesting scene. 🙂
If you’re looking for a real, no-joke, once-in-a-lifetime experience, get tickets to the “MultipleTap Tour” invading Will’s Pub on Friday, April 1, 2015. If you want to be real cruel, take your mom, as an April Fools joke, however, the joke may end up on you, puking in the corner. Think you can handle this? Bring it.

The headliners of this tour are Hijokaidan, which is Japanese for “emergency staircase.” The members of Hijokaidan are creeping in their 70s, and are founders of the noise-rock genre in Japan, and widely considered the first noise band in the world.
This will be the first time the entire “Japanese Noise Scene” giants come for America. And, first time performances in America for almost everyone. “MultipleTap” is a chaotic exteme Japanese scene not seen in other parts of the world. The show is notorious for having “overwhelming power and chaos,” unlike anything else that exists today.Â
I honestly have no fucking idea what is even happening in this video. Is one dude is playing a fluorescent light bulb?!
The full “MultipleTap Tour” Japanese lineup includes:Â Hijokaidan, Hatis Noit, Jeff Carey, ucnv, Atsuhiro Ito, Kou Katsuyoshi, Yousuke Fuyama, Makoto Oshiro, Sofheso, and local support comes from The Caution Children and Ad Nauseum.
Here’s a quick-breakdown of who’s performing and what they’ll be doing:
Hijokaidan, translation “emergency staircase” — the grandfathers of noise-rock who will melt your brain cells. This will be your only chance to see this in Florida, ever (unless you see them in Miami the next day).
Hatis Noit — A female vocalist who creates beautiful music using mostly “her voice” through loops.
Jeff Carey — An American noise-maker who uses a joystick and gamer keypad, who almost made Amanda puke at Torche. (You can listen to some of his noise here.)
ucnv — a programmer and artist from Tokyo who damages images and movies to create glitchy visuals for live performances. This is what you might see.
Atsuhiro Ito — Ok, it’s confirmed. This dude really does play a fluorescent light bulb, which is an original musical device, he calls “the optron.” You’ve never seen anything like this.
Kou Katsuyoshi — This guy is actually the director of “MultipleTap”! He curates the whole thing, and brings a fair amount of weird to the table, too. This video is being shaken by the sound. Prepare your bowels.
Yosuke Fuyama — He’s an artist, composer, programmer, visual and graphic designer, VJ, has a Master’s Degree in Media Science from the University of Tokyo, and studied musical research and sound art. I think he knows his shit! This will be a wild ride.
Makoto Oshiro — He “plays” instruments which he makes by combining electronic devices, junk, and everyday materials. Don’t fall asleep to this. 😉
Local support come from Jacksonville, FL’s The Caution Children, who rock stupid hard. And, Orlando, FL’s Ad Nauseum who play “fast doom / slow grind.”
