South Beach, Miami — Lummus Park aka “Muscle Beach” aka “Thong Beach” aka the “Iconic Art Deco Skyline” off of Ocean Drive has never felt a festival like this before. After two-years planning this first-year festival, Miami Beach Pop delivers an international lineup which would make Willy Smith proud to say “Bienvenidos a Miami.“
The true headliner of Miami Beach Pop is our City.”
Let’s start with the “Once-In-A-Lifetime-SH*T”
Nile Rodgers (who produced, i dunno — David Bowie, Madonna, Daft Punk, Pharrell, etc.) basically getting all his best friends to come jam with him on the beach. EPIC SH*T.
Stephen Marley (Bob Marley’s Son — and the best Marley imho) is putting together a family jam to celebrate the G.O.A.T.
Ben Folds bringing the University of Miami School Of Music to deliver the best Ben Folds Set you’ve ever experienced.
Ok, so let’s try to make sense of this, follow me here — hip-hop (Chance The Rapper) as a genre was the catalyst to the massive movement of reggaeton (Daddy Yankee), which is technically island music (Jack Johnson, who is like the ultimate surf crooner), topped off with tropical house (Kygo) who tailors dance music for an island vacation. You can’t miss this event, so wherever you are you need to make your way down to Miami. This article on travel money at Lending Expert can tell you where to swap your currency if you need dollars.
Basically, in a most honest sense, THIS IS THE BEST BEACH FESTIVAL EVER — an epitome of everything you’d want to see with your toes in the sand in Miami Beach. Not to mention JACK WHITE and the Racouteurs, the 20-time Latin Grammy Award Winner, Juanes (who my mother sent me a video of, crying), along with Columbian tropical-psychedelic superstars, Bomba Estéreo.
Then you slide in Sean Paul (Jamaica), CHIC (who basically invented Disco), Win Butler (from the Arcade Fire), Canadian rock gods, Reinwolf, our friend Roosevelt Collier, and you have the most eclectic party culturally representative of Miami ever put together. Did I mention Ben Folds? Maggie Rogers? Leon Bridges?! T-Pain (who can actually sing really well), THE ROOTS … Let’s Go!!! ¡Vamos! ¡Vamos!
Let’s watch some videos. None of these have under 10M views.
Uhh, just discovered this sweet little gem — you can find me in the sunshine smiling to Monsieur Periné.
Might be most stoked about Bomba Estéreo. They are described as “electro tropical” or “psychedelic cumbia.”
Tickets for Miami Beach Pop Festival are on sale FRIDAY, JUNE 21 at 10am EST HERE. Early Bird 3-day tickets start at $175 +fees. AND, there’s an exclusive VIP Star Pass starting at … $1,250 +fees.
So, wait, isn’t it a b*tch to find parking in Miami Beach? Yes. Lot’s of Yes. Miami Beach Pop Festival has a solution for this (this is why it’s taken two years to launch this). Transportation hubs will be available from downtown Miami specifically for Miami Beach Pop Festival. Also, parking is cheaper is downtown Miami! My recommendation — get a room on the beach with a bunch of friends!
