July 2015: A young man in a big hat takes the tiny stage at Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, NC. He is 19 years old. His voice and command of the guitar come out like Chris Stapleton and Warren Haynes morphed with Stevie Ray Vaughn. No one knows his name yet, but they will by the end of the night.
Summer 2016: His band’s excellent debut album Soul Insight now released to the world, and with Haynes as a mentor, people are beginning to take notice. The room at Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville, FL is mostly full and folks know the words, words that take a backseat to the groove. He gets lost in each meandering solo and so do we. Marcus King is no longer a well-kept secret.
Gasparilla Music Festival, February 2017: The Marcus King Band‘s unique brand of soul is the buzz of the festival. Upstaging better-known acts with its blend of blues, soul, and psychedelic rock, King and his excellent band now have two outstanding albums to their credit and the folks are eating them up.
October 9, 2017: The Marcus King Band is coming to the State Theatre in St. Pete with Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio and Shows I Go To wants you to go for FREE! If you have seen them then you already have plans for this one.
