One of the Best Voices Out There | LIGHTS Live Review and Concert Photos | The Beacham |February 24th, 2015

On Tuesday, February 24^th, I got the opportunity to catch Valerie Anne Poxleitner, also known as LIGHTS, at The Beacham in Orlando, FL. I came across her incredibly catchy music a few years ago browsing through YouTube. I have been following her career but never had the chance to catch her live. I was stoked to find out she was coming back to Orlando (in fact the last time I think she played Orlando was with Warped Tour).

The line to get into her show was stretched down the street and around the building until doors opened at 7 and people started to pile in. The night started out with X Ambassadors who were great at mixing synth sounds over awesome vocals with notes of smooth jazz (the lead singer swooned with a saxophone).

Around 9:15, Lights took to the stage to a packed Beacham house. Starting with a nice ambient intro on a piano, she went right into her set with the song “Muscle Memory” from her new critically acclaimed album Little Machines. Her set list ranged from songs off all three of her albums, with a focus on songs from the new album.

Her voice was perfect, and that says a lot for a live performance. Sometimes you can catch a live show and say “wow, that artist sounded just like the CD!” Well, Lights does and she just glows on stage. The guys that back her up as musicians to the lights make for an incredible experience and some really great photos. After the show, I was texting all my friends saying they missed one hell of a show because when I left, I knew I was a fan of her’s for life.

I cant wait to see what the future hold for Lights, and am excited for her to keep playing shows that support her album Little Machines. If you have the opportunity to catch her in your area, spend the money on the ticket and enjoy your evening.
