Cashmere Cat Orlando

Cashmere Cat | Norwegian Kitty In the Big Mouse City | Coming to The Social Orlando | March 27 2015

by • February 18, 2015

Is Orlando finally on the map for places to stop? The Social booking Cashmere Cat, Norwegian DJ, turntablist, and producer, might be more evidence that the City Beautiful is a city you must stop at. Granted, this is just a pit stop on his way to Miami for Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival. But don’t get worried, Cashmere Cat is not your “EDM”-fist pumping, shirtless-bro type of electronic music. 🙂

I first got into Cashmere Cat (Magnus Hølberg) when a coworker would play his Soundcloud account on repeat about two years back. I fell in love immediately with the long-haired, somewhat mysterious-somewhat shy, post-trap purveyor of quirky, twisted, digital beats. His style takes up R&B from the past and updates it with a futuristic blend on bass music and hip-hop.

From sexy and iconic bed squeak samples on his edit of Jeremih’s “773 Love” to his brand new moody collaboration with Sinjin Hawke for Kanye West’s Adidas fashion show and new album titled “Wolves” (track featuring Sia and Vic Mensa); I have been tracing this kitty’s every step.

In the past few years Cashmere has become a rising producer on the scene. He has released two style-shaping EPs (2012’s Mirror Maru and 2014’s Wedding Bells); been featured on the Gilles Peterson WorldWide FM radio station for Grand Theft Auto V; worked on original productions for Ludacris and Wiz Khalifa, Usher and Tinashe, Charli XCX, Ariana Grande, and Juicy J; as well as added his touch to a slew of remixes for 2 Chainz and Drake, Lana Del Rey, Ryn Weaver, BenZel and more. One of his biggest remixes for Miguel’s “Do You…” still has everyone singing the age old question of whether or not one partakes in party substances… I mean love.

After missing him play at multiple festivals last year (BUKU, Counterpoint, Winter Music Festival) I was lucky enough to see him last April in San Francisco on a work trip, and then again in October down in Miami covering III Points Festival for Shows I Go To for a Boiler Room-like set.

I can guarantee that this is a show that you cannot miss! When Cashy Cat meets the Big Mouse, things are gonna get crazy. Be prepared to get down on a set you’ve never experienced before. From jersey club, to future bass and garage, to some classic R&B vibes, down to reworked dance-pop tracks, this show is going to be one of the best nights for Orlando in 2015.
