In case you haven’t heard, there’s a sweet psychedelic rock band playing in Orlando at The Beacham on October 22nd (WIN TICKETS BELOW). I’m compelled to spread the word about this band, The Bright Light Social Hour, because they really floored me earlier this year. Mitch invited me to check them out one night and said they sounded kind of like Pink Floyd with an extra flare of soul and dance feels; got my attention! I had never heard them before, but he assured me that I would love their sound and energy. Mitch has never led me astray with music recommendations; he hit the nail right on the head with this one as usual. That show ended up being one of my top five shows of the year so far. What I enjoyed most about The Bright Light Social Hour, aside from their groovy music, was their lively stage presence. These guys are incredibly passionate about music, and it shows through their body language and charismatic connection with the crowd. It’s evident that they are really down-to-earth guys when we talked to them after the show too.

After reading more about the band, I discovered that these Austin, Texas dwellers have been keeping busy over the past few years, appearing on multiple big-time music festival lineups: Austin City Limits, Sasquatch, Hangout, Wakarusa, and Lollapalooza. I heard they’ve been selling out big city shows this year as well, including New York City, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, DC, Chicago, and Boston.

This live performance from their hometown show should give you an idea of how much punch they can pack!

Since their upcoming show is going to be at the Beacham this time, instead of the Social, they’re probably going to pump way more power into their set. I can’t wait to experience it!

If you haven’t heard their new album, Space Is Still the Place, I highly recommend giving it a listen. I rotate a lot of music on and off my phone for driving, but this one has been settled on there for quite awhile now. If you like bands like Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, The Black Keys, and Flaming Lips, this may become one of your new favorites. Do yourself a favor and check them out when they come to town! Don’t snooze on getting a ticket either, this one may sell out!
