VIDEO PREMIERE — ZETA “Canto de la Victoria” (The Chant of Victory) feat. The Abajo Cadena Orchestra

by • February 5, 2021

Ay voy! Let’s Go! ZETA just dropped “El Canto De La Victoria” (The Chant of Victory)—a masterpiece. The colors are a performance on their own. There is true power in these sounds. Get off your chair and throw some kicks to the air, fuck the system, fuck the problems, resist! resist! resist! They stand no chance of stealing this freedom from us—beautiful creativity; passion, consciousness. The lyrics are in Spanish, but the feeling is universal. We are the fight! We are the hands! Scream it like William Wallace till the air has vanished from your burning lungs. Lyrics below.

The revolution contains the assembly of Abajo Cadenas—an orchestra of multi-talented, Latin-American musicians, all currently living in the United States. Under the creative direction of Juan Ricardo Yilo and Daniel E. Hernández Saud (founding members of Zeta), Abajo Cadenas is composed of Liza Ortiz (vocals), Claudio Ortiz (percussion), Eduardo “Chino” Sandoval (drums), and Antonio Pereira (bass)

On the heels of the release of their forthcoming album, Todo Bailarlo (Dance Everything), Zeta announces the debut of “El Canto de la Victoria,” their newest single and music video. After nearly two decades together and playing more than 1,000 shows for audiences all over North and South America, Zeta , originally from Venezuela, are forging the next leg of their musical journey. A transformation and exploration of new sounds and rhythms while maintaining the urgent Rock energy that has characterized their music from the beginning.

Concept For The Album

“We explore different rhythms in each song, highlighting sounds that influence us from all over the Caribbean, Latin America, and Brazil. For example, “Canto a la Victoria” is built on our interpretation of a Calypso rhythm, played with an intensity and fervor that you’d expect from a Rock band that’s been on the road for 18 years.” Daniel and Juan Ricardo contend, “This first single goes beyond being a politically charged song of protest as it creates space to be a celebration of the awakening and growth in consciousness of our people.”
