You can feel it in the crisp, spring air. The birds chirp and the leaves rustle together as if to warn you. Ever so slightly you can feel the chugging of the distant train in your chest. Their quirky lyrics and thumping bass notes are all aboard a progressive Colorado bluegrass train that’s heading your way. Your toe will start tappin’ before you realize what’s happenin’ when Yonder Mountain String Band comes to town. On Friday, March 11th, the train stops at Jannus Live to play to a happy crowd in the heart of St. Pete., Florida (TICKETS HERE). Jannus Live is an open courtyard in Downtown St. Petersburg that houses a huge stage and bigger sound. VIP balconies and suites are available, but the floor is awesome with plenty of points of sale for your refreshments for the evening.

The members of Yonder Mountain String Band include Ben Kaufmann on bass, Dave Johnston playing banjo, Adam Aijala on guitar, Allie Kral on fiddle, while Nick Piccininni blesses the band with his skills on mandolin, fiddle, banjo and guitar! These guys and gals are a staple at nearly every bluegrass festival and have sold out performances at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO. They have inspired big time bluegrass acts such as Greensky Bluegrass, Billy Strings, and The Infamous Stringdusters with their playful lyrics and awesome improvisational feel-good music.

In January of ‘22, Yonder Mountain released their single, “If Only.” A month later they released the full album, Get Outside Yourself, on February 25. This unique and ambitious album shows that Yonder is still evolving as a band. This is the second album with this current lineup, the first being Black Sheep. Both albums exemplify YMSB’s ability to blur the line between rock ‘n’ roll and bluegrass with their improvisational talent. They are an unstoppable train picking up speed with each performance. Their music is always progressing reaching new levels.
