At no other point in my life have I been so drawn to see Rusted Root. But this Thursday, I want my home to be House of Blues ORL (win tickets below). Let me tell you a story…

It’s approximately 1:45 a.m. in The Milk District in Orlando. A show has just completed at Spacebar — insides still fogged-out, blinking bright colors. Around 14 early-to-mid-twenties millennials are dancing around the mostly-empty bar. Usually, you’d expect to hear bass rattling a bar at this time of night. (I don’t know, maybe like The Chainsmokers or something. Damn, those guys are assholes.) But something different is happening at Spacebar; their soundtrack is none other than “Send Me On My Way” by ’90s Pittsburg world-infused rock band, Rusted Root. And they are killing it.

I’m going to speak directly to the seasoned Rusted Root fans for a second. People, I know you’re initial thought is going to be, “These kids don’t really appreciate all RR has to offer. They’re just being ironic or something.” And that’s just not true. I can genuinely express my love of RR just like you can. So what if it’s spearheaded by their 1994 hit? I know the value of albums like When I Woke and Remember. And without a doubt, I am drawn in by the chance to see this music, especially “Send Me On My Way,” in a live setting. From what I’ve seen, it’s a beautiful collaboration of ’90s pop rock, big drums, shakers, and (of course) penny whistle. And if you’d like to join me at HOB, keep scrolling friend.
