I’ve seen Leisure Chief on numerous occasions before. Did I realize at the time who they were? In all honesty, no. I messed up there. *smh* As I’m writing this, I’m listening to their live 2015 Hulaween set and am kicking myself.

How and why did I miss out on this?!

This gifted Orlando based group is an awesome break for my mind, body, and soul. It’s a nice getaway from all of the rock (with its endless sub-genres) I mostly listen to. The instrumental-dominated tracks remind me of when I was a child. My dad would play jazz music on the sound system throughout the house and in the car. My dad is the shit, so listening to Leisure brings me back to happy, innocent times. The mixture of funk, soul, hip-hop, and jazz with the (rare) soothing vocals of Nick Bogdon, Derek Engstrom, and Chris McMullen is just magical. I get lost in the music.

When I found out their King of Nothing album release show is happening a block over from my place, I made sure I wasn’t scheduled to work. Monday, February 22, 2016 Leisure Chief and a couple of friends, Anthony Cole’s Central AYR Productions and Electric Kif, will be at Will’s Pub. I don’t think anyone should miss out on this show! Come grab three fingers of Glenlivet with a little bit of pepper or a Manhattan, and kick the vermouth in the side with a pair of steel-toed boots with me … or a cold beer works, too. Doors are 9PM.

Side note to the Editor: That drink stuff is an Anchorman reference.
