If you saw Jack White and Robert Plant step onto stage earlier in the week and proceed to do some pretty righteous damage to âThe Lemon Song,â you had every reason to be excited. As Led Zeppelin fans, weâve been toyed with for a long time now.
Weâve played the âWill they or wonât they?â game when it comes to the band getting back together for decades. Weâve grown so tired of the rumor mill, weâve started ignoring the rumors. And how much did Plant turn down last time he was asked to tour with his old bandmates? Two billion dollars?! Itâs safe to say itâs just not going to happen for the diehard fans, not in our lifetimes and not in theirs. Weâll just have to gobble up all the vinyl reissues as fast as they hit and call it good.
I digress. One band is here to appease us. One band has heeded the call and decided to give us some pretty credible versions of âBlack Dogâ and âKashmirâ and (fingers crossed) âThe Oceanâ too. They are Get The Led Out, the self-proclaimed âAmericanâ Led Zeppelin. And thatâs what we want, right? Itâll do in a pinch. Itâll more than do.
Personal anecdote time: Iâve seen these guys exactly once before and, lost in the haze of drink, letâs just say the line between the original band and this one became increasingly blurry. There were other shenanigans, mostly involving sneaking a friend into the menâs bathroom and narrowly escaping some meathead security sorts on our way out, giggling the whole way. Thatâs the kind of scenario you want soundtracked by your favorite band, even if it is a band comprised of diehard Led Zeppelin fans singing and playing the best Led Zeppelin karaoke of their lives. And they put on a great show! Close your eyes and you can hardly tell a difference. I know itâs only rock ân roll, but I like it, like it, yes, I do.
Want to create some stories of your own? Want to see if Get The Led Out likes to wear tight pants? Want to scream-sing along to your favorites and do it like nobodyâs listening? Good news: You can. You can and you will. Get The Led Out will be at The Plaza Live (Orlando) this Saturday, March 28 (win tickets below). Go and fall in love. You wonât be able to help yourself.
