TICKET GIVEAWAY: Augustana with Scars on 45 | The Social Orlando| Coming November 24 2014

The last three years have been a roller coaster for Augustana.  In 2011, not long after the release of their third album Augustana, the band was dropped from their record label.  The rest of the band decided to amicably part ways, leaving primary songwriter Dan Layus without a band.  Layus decided to press on under the moniker Augustana because he wanted to continue under the name that people know.

Earlier this year, Augustana signed a record deal with Washington Square Music and released their first album since 2011 entitled Life Imitating Life.  Dan Layus played all the instruments on this album and produced it himself.  Now Augustana is finally back on the road and they are playing The Social on Monday November 24, 2014 (win tickets below).

Scars on 45 will be opening the show.  I have a friend that absolutely loves them and I am kicking myself for not checking these guys out sooner. Their name comes from an Emmylou Harris interview that the front-man, Danny Bemrose, had heard, in which she talks about “scratching her dad’s records and being yelled out for making ‘scars on his 45s.'” Unfortunately, they have yet to release anything on vinyl.
