Seminal English duo, The Orb, has been purveyors of electronic music for 27 years. Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlman took ambient house and dub music to the next level with moving melodic lines, hard-hitting bass, and occasional “other-worldly” samples. Any of this sound appealing? Most known for their hits of the early 1990s (see: “Little Fluffy Clouds” above), their feat of longevity has been in part to extensive live shows that pleasure all the senses; including lasers, virtual reality graphics, and live instrumentalists. To further cement their legacy, Rolling Stone included the act’s 1991 album, Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, in their Rolling Stone 200: The Essential Rock Collection.

The Orb released their thirteenth studio album, Moonbuilding 2703 AD, on June 23, 2015. Moonbuilding 2703 AD marks the duo’s return to indie electronic label, Kompakt. On the new album, The Orb’s signature cosmic vibes progress while paying special tribute to the late hip-hop producer, J Dilla. Local DJs Shadow_Run/Brothers and STOIC will get the party started. So no matter how you like your electronic music, The Orb will have you grooving.
