TICKET GIVEAWAY: The Delta Saints | Coming to BackBooth | Thursday, March 19, 2015

Picture this: it’s a sticky 100 degrees in the swamps of Louisiana, and you’re waiting for service to begin in your old neighborhood chapel. The grandma next to you in her best Sunday hat is fanning herself impatiently, pushing hot air onto your face. Just when you think you’re gonna die of boredom before this thing even starts, The Delta Saints bust through the doors, instruments in tow, and proclaim they’re gonna do this right, taking your dull black and white scene to full, resounding technicolor instantly. Hallelujah! Hats and shoes fly off, and within seconds everyone is dancing; not a still body in the building. Hands raised in the air, now THIS IS CHURCH.

The first time I saw Nashville’s The Delta Saints I was working a shift at House of Blues Orlando and they were opening for southern rock band, Blackberry Smoke. I danced so hard during their set that by the end of it I was dripping with sweat and it was a small miracle I had gotten any work done at all. I knew right away that I was going to spend some of the cash I had just made on one of their albums. (Turns out The Delta Saints loved that evening as much as I did, because they just recently posted a photo of it on their Instagram in celebration of returning to Florida.)

So what can you expect when they join us here in the Sunshine State at BackBooth on March 19th? I would call it spirit-shaking, hand-clapping, foot-stomping, Bayou-swamp-blues-influenced rock and roll. I should also mention that the opening Orlando-based band, Ancient Sun, has been known to melt a face or two with the saxophone, so be prepared for that, too. Or maybe you should just show up and let go of your expectations completely (enter to win tickets below!). I’m not by any means telling you how to live your life, but if I were you I would come let The Delta Saints exorcise your demons with their sweet electric guitar and vocal wailing goodness. Doors are at 7pm, so pass the whiskey, y’all. Let’s get sweaty.
