U.K. punk rock legends, The Damned will play their first Florida shows in years with dates in St. Pete, Orlando, and Ft, Lauderdale. This past year The Damned celebrated their 40th anniversary as a band and they show no signs of stopping anytime soon. The Damned were the first British punk band to release a U.S. single and tour in the United States back in 1976. Their first single “New Rose” was covered by Guns N’ Roses on their The Spaghetti Incident album which introduced The Damned to a whole other generation of people (See video below).

Over the years, The Damned has been through numerous different lineup changes but the band still contains key original members, vocalist David Vanian and guitarist Captain Sensible. I had the opportunity to see The Damned twice last year at Riot Fest and at a Riot Fest Aftershow at a small club called Double Door in Chicago. I can attest that these guys definitely still got it. David Vanian’s vampire vocals are just as haunting as they were forty years ago and The Captain still rocks the guitar as though he never aged. I feel very privileged to have been able to catch these guys live so don’t miss your opportunity to catch them in your own backyard. I’ll be at the lovely, intimate State Theatre in St. Pete on May 13, 2017. 😎

The Captain was recently asked in an interview, “Did you think you’d last this long?” and his response was brilliant.
