To celebrate their 40th anniversary, industrial music pioneers Skinny Puppy are back on the road with the “Skinny Puppy: Final Tour”. Unfortunately, this will be the last tour for the band, and an even better reason to come out and see them if you haven’t already. Be there on Tuesday, April 11th at Jannus Live in St Petersburg. Skinny Puppy Tickets Jannus Live Tampa 2023

Formed in Vancouver, Canada in 1982, Skinny Puppy is known for their haunting soundscapes, distorted vocals, and political lyrics. They are also credited with being on the forefront of industrial music.

Skinny Puppy has released several highly acclaimed albums, including their debut album Remission in 1984, which showcased their unique sound and experimental approach to music. The band’s 1987 album Cleanse Fold and Manipulate is considered a classic of the industrial genre, featuring hits like “Addiction” and “Deep Down Trauma Hounds.” Skinny Puppy has also won several awards throughout their career, including the Canadian CASBY Award for Best Independent Release in 1992 for their album Last Rights.

Fun Fact: The US Military at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp has actually used Skinny Puppy songs to torture prisoners for hours on end. Especially a crunchy, boot-legged version of the song “VX Gas Attack”. This revelation prompted the band to develop the concept of their 2013 album Weapon, even going so far as originally planning to include an instructional manual detailing how to use the album to torture people. I don’t know about you, but I think any band who has their music played at Guantanamo Bay to torture people must go pretty hard.
