Take a trip down memory lane with us … as we celebrate our upcoming 12th annual Suwannee Hulaween!! Looking back on the Spirits of Hulaween’s past, has been a blast. I have been to every Hulaween since 2013. Shows I Go To has been reporting on every Hulaween sine 2014. I have never missed the Saturday Night String Cheese Incident Theme Set. This special set is at the heart of Hulaween. Do NOT miss the most important show at Hula!

2014

Ah. Baby Hula. So hard to believe this was the line up for just their second year! I was excited to see Beats Antique and hadn’t seen them since The Hangout in 2011. A perfect set for a spooky weekend. Big Gigantic was a force during their sets. We dressed up as party animals this year, now that we had some experience in 2013 from the first Hulaween to grace the SOSMP. We were impressed the year before and knew we had to come back. Thievery Corporation blew me away with their dynamics and the sheer number of people on and off stage. We were in a trance. With Greensky Bluegrass and Rising Appalachia to keep us grounded, we were well on our way to establishing a home at this festival. It dropped to 30 degree temperatures that weekend, breaking records for Florida, but we kept each other warm and had the time of our lives. 2015

We were hooked! Such a killer line up in 2015 with Pretty Lights bringing a new vibe to the fest. Primus was a bucket list performance in the Amphitheater. Being able to get my reggae fix mid-day at Hulaween 2015 was so good with Slightly Stoopid. Lettuce set the rhythm and tone while Dumpstaphunk kept us grooving all night. STS9 topped the weekend off so well and wowed the crowd with their fusion of EDM and all the genres in between. Joe Russo’s Almost Dead kicked off this epic weekend in 2015 and they will help wrap up the lineup for 2025! By 2015, we had found our Hula Fam and we couldn’t be happier than to be in the woods and enjoying everything that Hulaween had to offer, making new friends, and appreciating live music. 2018

Jumping to Hulaween 2018 where I was blown out of the water by Odesza’s performance. Jamiroquai was a real treat, I felt like I was the “Cosmic Girl.” Tipper debuted Suwannee Hulaween in 2018, and Tipper and his Friends melded with the classic, strange and whimsical wonderland that is Hulaween. Vulfpeck had such a great set, everyone was dancing. I am not sure I would have ever had the opportunity to see Vulfpeck if not for Hulaween. One of my favorite shows of all time may have to have been Janelle Monáe’s performance on the Meadow to top the Hulaween weekend off. 2019

This was the year of all the years! It had been an epic year of music leading up to Hulaween 2019. Me and my girl gang embraced the scene. We were well taken care of and this was a year we all made a point to go. The 90’s theme was a perfect fit for us. String Cheese had such a great Saturday night set of RHCP, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Tupac, Will Smith and even some Phish! Umphrey’s was now on my top radar, and I was so happy to have them again at Hulaween. Tom Morello had us raging and raving with his performance in the Amphitheatre. I got up close and personal for Anderson .Paak’s set. His smooth vocals and tight beats had the crowd feeling so fine. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for us this year! 2021

Hulaween 2021 meant so much to me, as presumably it did to everyone. 2020 was hard for many of us. The beginning of 2021 and the months to come were some of the worst of my life. Yet, something was pulling me back to Hulaween, my soul needed it. We all needed it. It’s a part of the process and the love for this one of a kind music festival that brings so many people together, and reminds us of what is important. Jungle helped all our worries float away with their catchy lyrics and groovy beats. Umphrey’s McGee was stellar as always and Lettuce continued to be a funky favorite. Khruangbin was a huge draw for my partner and I. He introduced me to Khruangbin, and I was in love. They were the perfect night cap to a much needed Hulaween. It was during that show, that I remember that feeling of knowing this is exactly where I was meant to be. I savor these moments. See Full SIGT Hulaween 2021 Review Here!

It is truly hard to pick the best years of Hulaween. They have all been so good, and I feel at home every year. Each year seems to get better and better. Some years I’ve had the privilege to enjoy all 4+ days of music and fun and others I’ve had the ability to only go for less than 48 hours, what a wild ride that Hula was. There is something so special about Hulaween and you have to feel it for yourself. Join us this year for the 12th annual Suwannee Hulaween, and you will see what I mean!

Hulaween 2025 may just become the best of all time! I’m willing to bet. Be a part of the SOSMP magic and join us for Suwannee Hulaween 2025 and be a part of the reason this will be the greatest Hulaween yet!
