NETFLIX SHOW THE GET DOWN PREMIERS AND HAS EVERYONE TALKING
And trust: there was a lot to talk about. From the representation of Hip Hop, Soul and Disco in the late 70s to the kiss Jaden Smith shared with a male co-star, The Get Down is making waves. Publications from Pitchfork to Rolling Stone to Forbes have written about it. The biggest question is, will it resonate with TV watchers?
FREDDIE GIBBS CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT IN AUSTRIA, RELEASED ON BAIL
The alleged incident took place in July 2015 while Gibbs was on tour in Vienna. Gibbs continues to maintain his innocence. He is alleged to have administered “knock-out drops” to a woman and then attacked her in a defenseless state. Gibbs has been released on bail and released a statement through his lawyer.
MEEK MILL SPEAKS ON HIS BEEF WITH DRAKE
Meek apparently has not let this year’s beef with Drake stop him. In an interview that appears on Billboard, he speaks on the beef as well as his Dreamchasers 4 mix tape slash album. Check out some of the interview at this link.
CHANCE THE RAPPER STARTS A NEW WEBSITE TO GET HIS MUSIC ON RADIO
The Chicago emcee is now working with rapperradio.com to promote his music to be played on national radio. He is seeking the help of his fans to do so. He’s even gotten a social media hashtag: #optioncee. This comes on the success of his latest project, Coloring Book, as well as appearances on Saturday Night Live and Good Morning America without any major label backing.
DANNY BROWN REVEALS NEW ALBUM TRACKLIST
Atrocity Exhibition, the fourth album by Danny, will feature Kendrick Lamar, B-Real and Ab-Soul among others. He also released the new song “Pneumonia” for fans. The new album is due September 30 on Warp Records.
