Public Image LTD hold an extremely special place in my heart. It is one band my father and I both share a deep appreciation for and have always talked about seeing together for years. With a diverse sound that can range from dub to new wave to punk to post punk, the ultra-catchy music of ex-Sex Pistols front-man John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) has captivated me since I was a young teenager.  Ever since my dad had me listen to “This Is Not a Love Song,” I was hooked. The simple yet intriguing lyrics combined with the sarcastic drawl of John Lydon mixed so well with the different kinds of sounds that the band was playing that I knew this was a special band.

Forming after the semi-dissolution of the original punk band, The Sex Pistols, John Lydon wanted to do something outside of the punk scene that had made him famous. After spending time in Jamaica, he met up with Jah Wobble and the pair decided to make weird but excellent music together. Releasing music throughout the 80’s, PiL had an ever rotating door of musicians that played on the albums until finally in 1993, John Lydon announced a hiatus. This lasted until 2009, when PiL came out with plans to tour and hopefully release new music. With two new albums in the fold, PiL is coming to The Plaza Live on November 7, 2015, and I hope you can join my dad and I in experiencing one of the strangest yet most intriguing acts of all time!
