ICYMI: Prophets of Rage coming to St. Augustine Amphitheatre! | Friday, September 30, 2016

by • July 27, 2016

Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill came at consecutive generations of young people in the ’80s and ’90s with eloquence, grace, and bile. Concepts about which middle-class white kids would otherwise be clueless now thrust into the collective consciousness. Challenges faced by poor folks described in terms young people of all backgrounds could grasp. Dinner table conversations from suburbia to the inner city began to be characterized by questions about how someone “could just kill a man.”

The three prophetic genre-melding bands split years ago, but Rage Against the Machine’s spiritual leader Tom Morello could not rest amidst today’s political lunacy. So he did what you do when you have the credibility to call on the likes of B-Real and Chuck D, he picked up the phone and asked to form a new band based on time-tested ideas.

Thankfully, they said yes. Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, and Rage Against the Machine have joined forces to fight against social ills. The kinds of problems brought on by presidential candidates suggesting we build a wall between the U.S. and the “People of the Sun.”

Prophets of Rage marries the old school deliveries of Chuck D and B-Real, the beats of DJ Lord, and the angry intensity of Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk. Donald Trump’s hateful arrogance, Hillary Clinton’s allergy to honesty, and perpetual police brutality in America will all be on blast in when Prophets of Rage take the gorgeous St. Augustine Amphitheatre stage on Friday, September 30. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 29 at 10AM. Act fast because this will sell out in no time as the venue only has a capacity of about 4,100 raging souls, and they are playing to 18,000 people in Tampa the next day. This is the first and smallest show of three Florida dates the group will play that weekend, followed by visits to the much larger MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa and the Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach.
