‘I love you to the moon and back.’

A phrase heard all the time. A casual colloquialism we slip into sentiments to express the depth of our love and caring for a person. Are we really aware of just how much space our said profession of love needs to cover? Hymn For Her knows a thing or two about the nearly half a million miles which spans ‘to the moon and back.’ They’ve clocked the mind boggling number in their blue Ford van and ’61-vintage Bambi Airstream in tow traveling show to show around the US.

H4H are a duo like no other. The two are ying and yang, give and take, two western outlaws with nothin’ but the open and often treacherous road ahead. Wayne Waxing and Lucy Tight just came back from a stint of touring overseas and didn’t take a moment to breathe before they hopped in their old reliable to sling songs some more. You can’t really rest on laurels when your new album, Drive Til U Die, ties for #1 on the most added Americana albums though, can you? The title is apt to their road dog lifestyle and some of the songs were recorded inside the Bambi Airstream trailer itself.

Drive Til U Die’ is already solidly entrenched in my Top Five of this year. It is that good.

-No Depression

Together, they make quite a sound…It’s road music, it’s rootsy punk rock, it’s the beating heart of America.

-Popshifter

The album has been garnering praise across the board, which is no surprise at all. Waxing and Tight are poetry in melodic motion. It is quite hard to attain the chemistry these folksy punks have conjured up time and time again. Their latest release is a testament to a quality that edges out skill any day of the week, an open mind of positivity. The road will throw wrenches at you(hopefully for when the van breaks down). It will present seemingly impossible to fix situations. It will fuck you up five ways to Sunday but when all the dust from the buckin’ n fussin’ kicks up and clears, you see the damn near most beautiful sunset you’ve ever seen as you haul down route 10 leaving strangers turned friends in the rear view. An innate ability to seek the positive is heard in every H4H song. Each highway, backwoods road, and trucking Interstate fuels their desire to share their art even more and have a damn good time doing it. Thank the bluegrassy gods they are making a detour to Will’s Pub.
Southern Fried Sunday is glowing up this month with a stellar star studded lineup. Laney Jones is set to perform with her band The Spirits, which, is sure to be a treat for all. Her musical career may have started as somewhat of an accident but her purpose is clear, good-hearted, old soul, magical rock’n’roll. Sideshow Revival is bringing their Americana Rock to the stage along with Slim Walker & His Orchestra and Kiel Grove!
If your mouths weren’t watering enough, here’s a little extra incentive: Dirt Reynolds BBQ will be serving a scrumptious BBQ dinner with vegetarian sides for only $4. Good grub, great tunes, and the best little down home venue in town. You have found your weekend plans. Doors are at 5:30pm and your tickets are below. 😉 <3
