If you haven’t heard of that is all about to change because they will be dropping their sophomore album on March 10, 2015. If the few songs I have heard are any indication, this album is going to be great. These guys blend southern rock and psychedelic rock with a touch of Floyd and Zeppelin.

If you haven’t heard of The Bright Light Social Hour that is all about to change because they will be dropping their sophomore album Space is Still The Place on March 10, 2015. If the few songs I have heard are any indication, this album is going to be great. These guys blend southern rock and psychedelic rock with a touch of Floyd and Zeppelin.

Since the release of their debut album in 2010, they have played over four hundred shows while gaining new fans at each stop. The band couldn’t afford to stay in hotels so they stayed with a lot of different people along the way. They got to see how hard the average young American struggled and they were shocked. Many of the themes on the new album were inspired by this revelation.

I remember first hearing about The Bright Light Social Hour back in 2011 when they swept the SXSW Music Awards in their hometown of Austin, Texas. Word of their stellar live performances quickly spread and they were soon packing venues in Canada, Mexico and all over the United States. I saw them for the first time at The Social a few years back and I haven’t missed a show since.

The Bright Light Social Hour holds a special place in the hearts of the Shows I Go To Staff. Not only are we all big fans but we were able to get an amazing shot of them last year that serves as the cover photo on our Facebook page.

The Bright Light Social Hour’s tour in support of their new album rolls through The Social on April 3, 2015. They will be bringing their fellow Austin band, Migrant Kids along for the ride. (Buy tickets below)
