So while Peter Hook & The Light might not be a name that jumps out and grabs you, these names certainly will: Joy Division and New Order. Got your attention? Good.
The English rock band, which features the former bassist of both bands (yes, that’s Peter Hook), is headed our way in a few short days. They usually stick to what they know, too: This time around, it’s almost all Joy Division, with an opening set of New Order material. If you’re a fan of the Joy Division albums, Unknown Pleasures and/or Closer, you’re in some kind of luck. It’ll be 1979 and 1980 all over again as Hook and his crew is playing both full albums live.
For my part, I’m just really happy they’re going to slip some New Order into the opening set. Who wouldn’t be perfectly okay with hearing “Age of Consent” or “Blue Monday,” amIright? Like a couple cherries on top of a delicious night. In other words? Don’t show up late.
