Pathos, Pathos (a band so nice you have to say twice), Gravel Kings, Kinder Than Wolves, and Gary Lazer Eyes occupied one of Orlando’s favorite bars, Spacebar, on Friday. The bar is known for their Bring Your Own Vinyl nights as well as their food truck event, Tasty Tuesday’s. I got there fairly early, and the place was already buzzing with positive people eager to celebrate Pathos, Pathos’ new EP Pet Names [stream it below] and the start of their twenty-two city Summer tour in the place they call home. The band is based out of Orlando and has 2 EPs.
The boys were working the door and I was able to chat with them briefly about what to expect. I have been listening to their music online for the past few nights but needed to get a feel of how they perform. After some friendly conversation, I went inside and saw what Spacebar had to offer and realized why it’s so popular. The bar staff was courteous and suggested good beers at good prices. I grabbed a beer and checked out the other bands’ merchandise, pleased with how inviting the whole evening was. With the negativity going on in the world, this haven was full of good people who just love music as much as I do and share that passion with whoever wants to talk about it.
After all the opening acts went on, Pathos, Pathos began around midnight and enlightened the crowd with new tracks they’re debuting and older songs that got them to where they are. Even being on a smaller stage, they still rocked and moved around, a very active show. I kept my distance while shooting so the bandmates could jam. Looking into the audience, the hometown crowd was clapping, cheering, dancing the night away, and sharing positivity throughout the bar. Their 45-minute set nearly closed the bar down at two in the morning. When it was all said and done, they kept the party going by drinking with fans, new and old, and swapping stories and smiles.
If Pathos, Pathos is stopping by your town, take the time out and let them entertain you for the evening. They are well worth the ticket price, and you’re fueling this indie band’s dream. It’s a win-win for everybody.
With Pathos, Pathos going on a twenty-two show tour along the East Coast this Summer provides you with twenty-two opportunities to see them. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a night of their music. Have a beer with them. Safe travels boys and thank you for an exciting, positive night of music.
