Ticket Giveaway: Old Crow Medicine Show w/ The Devil Makes Three | Coming to House of Blues Orlando | May 14, 2015

A little over fifteen years ago, Old Crow Medicine Show was busking on street corners in New York and Canada to earn a living. They soon found their way to Boone, North Carolina where they were discovered busking in front of a pharmacy by bluegrass legend Doc Watson. The band was asked to play Doc Watson’s annual MearleFest which gave their career a huge boost. They soon found themselves being mentored by country legend, and president of the Grand Ole Opry, Marty Stuart who asked them to help entertain the audience between shows at The Opry.

Old Crow Medicine Show’s founding members Ketch Secor and Critter Fuqua met as teenagers in school. When on vacation in London, Fuqua found a rare Bob Dylan bootleg that contained a snippet of an unreleased Bob Dylan song known only as “Rock Me Mama.” Fuqua showed the song to Secor who was a huge Bob Dylan fan. Secor decided to take the snippet and turn it into a whole song. That song became “Wagon Wheel” which is now a staple of the Old Crow Medicine Show live show.  Bob Dylan agreed to share songwriting credit and split everything 50/50. “Wagon Wheel” became a huge hit when it was covered by mainstream country artist Darius Rucker last year (Check out Old Crow Medicine Show’s live performance of “Wagon Wheel” below).

The last few years have seen Old Crow Medicine Show’s career reach new heights. In September 2013, they graduated from performing in between shows to becoming full-fledged members of the Grand Ole Opry. They also won their first Grammy for Big Easy Express, a documentary that chronicles their journey on the “Railroad Revival Tour” with Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharped and the Magnetic Zeros. The bands took a vintage train from California to New Orleans while stopping to play shows along the way.

Old Crow Medicine Show will be hitting the festival circuit this summer before heading out on tour with The Devil Makes Three. They will be playing House of Blues Orlando on Thursday May 14, 2015 (Win tickets below).
