Neon Trees | Live Concert Photos | Hard Rock Live | Orlando, FL | May 27 2014

Neon Trees recently stopped in Orlando, Florida at the Hard Rock Live as part of the “Pop Psychology Tour.”  Lead singer Tyler Glenn holds nothing back in his performances and I was completely blown away. Their set started out with a white sheet in front of the stage with what seemed like a million colorful lights darting behind it going absolutely crazy. As the music built up to dramatic crescendo, the curtain dropped, and I knew I was in for a treat and one hell of a night.

Starting off their set with the song “Lessons In Love (All Day, All Night)” from their second release Picture Show, it set the tone for a fun-filled evening. Lots of singing. Lots of dancing. LOADS of fun. Other than playing a few hit songs from previous releases like “Animal” and “Everybody Talks,” Neon Trees drew the majority of the set from the recently released Pop Psychology album. I wish I was good enough to write the words to describe how awesome the light show was. As the evening moved on and Tyler Glenn moved danced across the stage. I began to fall more in love with what this band does.

At one point, he took a moment to share his personal struggles before releasing their new album and how he felt. “I was on top of the world doing what he loved but still wasn’t happy.” He also mentioned he had spoken with his psychiatrist about what was happening. He said “I realized to be truly comfortable in my own skin, I had to admit that I was a gay man.
After that he said the love and support he endured was all so worth it, and then went into the song “Voices in the Hall.” It definitely gave me more respect for him as a man and the band as a whole. They don’t care about the haters, they do what the love.

As the the show was coming to an end they covered a Human League song “Don’t You Want Me” as well as the classic “Where Is My Mind” by the Pixies. Then headed off stage only to come back for a 3 song encore to end the night. This band has just gained another fan in me. I hope by looking at these pictures and checking out their their new album Pop Psychology (it’s only $8.99 on iTunes) you too will become a fan of this band and what they do.
