Not for the faint of heart, Napalm Death has been causing the uninitiated a tremendous amount of anxiety since the early 1980’s. As the band calls out the hypocrisy of our political leaders and gives voice to our collective existential pain, the music brings us to the logical cathartic baptism. An Orwellian dystopia is a better option than the world Napalm Death paints, but that is only for us optimistic listeners.
Like many bands who have lasted so many years, Napalm Death has had its share of members. Yet, the current members of the band Shane Embury, “Barney” Greenway, Mitch Harris and Danny Herrera have been with the band for some time. Listening to the band’s new release it is easy to hear how tight this band performs. It may be metal/grindcore, but not a note is wasted and there is no filler to be found here. This band has a message, and you may not like the picture it paints of our society, but they’re sure convinced that this life is pretty dire.

Napalm Death is the kind of band with a rich history that newer screaming/grind/speed/death metal bands either credit or should be crediting. This band is angry and they want you to be angry too. We have all been lied to and your greatest sin wasn’t being born – your greatest sin is participating in the bigger lie that may be your very own existence.
Napalm Death is on tour with The Melvins.
The Melvins have also enjoyed a long history in the punk/hardcore scene. Making more of a connection to Black Flag and early Nirvana than to grindcore, The Melvins articulate the west coast DIY ethos that would make Mike Watt proud.

The Melvins are melodic and political and remind us all how music can be enjoyable while also being a protest to the corporate machine that grinds out the saccharine crap that dominates pop culture.
