I’ve never cared much for slasher flicks. Saw, Halloween, Friday the 13th…not my cup of coffee. However, there has always been something so enigmatic about the latter film and famed holiday. Sometimes there are as many as three Friday the 13th’s a year and considering I’m unlucky enough, I play my cards pretty close to the table. The safest place to be this Friday the 13th is at The Social clutching your rabbit’s foot, stomping to Murder By Death. WIN TICKETS BELOW!

This is no hardcore death metal band as their name may suggest. The indie-rock quintet from Indiana was inspired by the 1976 movie of the same name. From the Midwest, they have sprung into a cult favorite mixing a foundation of orchestra instruments and brash rock for all to gnaw on. Each song is carefully crafted with David Fountain at the heart of it leading with his affinity for all instruments including; mandolin, vocals, accordion, drums, and more…no sweat, right? The live show is another beast to behold all on its own. You’ll journey through the deep, lull, seedy tones that mar their tracks with hard hitting grit lyrics yet, surprising lightness throughout.

Biggie spoke on the subject matter and circle of ignorance and being informed that applies here, as well. If you didn’t know about Murder By Death, you do know now, so your bag of excuses should be pretty damn light while weighing your plans this weekend on where you’ll be instead of this show. Maybe you’re not a superstitious person or someone who feeds into the folklore, however, I’m hedging my bets you’ll see more than your fair share of dark outlined felines if you don’t toe the line, (or cracks in the pavement,) and see MBD this hallowed holiday. Your luck, though.
