Franti makes music because he believes it can change people’s lives and make a difference in the world — it has the power to give us new energy and connects us to a stronger sense of purpose. Franti says:

I make music for one reason; I care about people and I care about the planet we live in. Right now the world needs music that speaks out against hate and violence, that speaks up in support of the planet, in support of justice for all of humanity — and also makes you dance!”

The first time I saw Michael Franti & Spearhead was a time I will never forget. It was at the first Blackwater Music Festival at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida back in 2010. It was clearly evident that music brings people together and there is that shared love within all of us. Check out my videos of “Say Hey (I Love You)” and “Everybody deserves Music” which are just a few of the many videos I got… I might have filmed almost the whole set it was so good.

I was absolutely sucked in and mesmerized by the energy he brought to the stage during that legendary set. During “Yes I Will,” the whole band brought that energy into the crowd, it was a pure magic moment. Check out my video!

The new Soulrocker album (released June 3, 2016 on Fantasy Records) features songs that infuse acoustic, electronic, reggae, dancehall and natural earth elements, all with the message of people coming together to support each other and the planet. Peace, love, and music!
