Jacie and the Knick-Knacks | Live Concert Photos & Review | May 2, 2014 | The Social Orlando

Melbourne, Florida-based Jacie and the Knick-Knacks hit The Social in Orlando with SWIMM and Lyonia. This garage-rock band was formed on Valentine’s Day 2013 and young Jacie definitely made the crowd swoon. There are two songs that immediately stick out on their debut album La Rubia – two songs that I can effectively compare to both the Black Keys AND The Joy Formidable!

Let’s start with “Out of My Head,” their lead single on the new album. Through the 1 minute and 52 seconds of this song, Jacie and her Knick-Knacks pump out a Black Keys-esque garage-pop hit layered with driving drum and bass rhythms, an infectious guitar hook, and Jacie’s beautiful, raw vocals melodies. It’s a lo-fi radio-ready must listen! But be cautious while listening below because it’s been truly difficulty to get “Out Of My Head.” 😉

It’s no secret that The Joy Formidable is one of my favorite bands. Coming in at under 3 minutes, “The Random Song” by Jacie and the Knick-Knacks provides a delicately crafted anthematic-lullaby reminiscent of some of TJF’s early work. This tune features a somewhat bi-polar arrangement between its innocent kindness and rocking-the-fuck out.
