ICYMI: “This isn’t going to last much longer.” – Jesse Lacey of Brand New

by • October 15, 2015

Last night, Brand New played their sold out show at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. The bill included openers Manchester Orchestra and Kevin Devine. Apparently, Jesse Lacey was more talkative than usual.

As their final show of 2015 went on, Jesse got a little personal. He mentioned that he’s going to be a father (baby girl Lacey is on the way) and shared how inadequate and unworthy he felt playing on that stage, but his bandmates, Garrett, Vinnie, and Brian, made everything totally worth it. The four then exchanged sentimental hugs of support.

Without the three of them, I never would’ve gotten to do any of this.

It seemed as though Jesse was channeling his inner Long Island emo self … below, he goes on about the future of Brand New.

I’m gonna tell you right here and now, this isn’t gonna last much longer…

But it’s been so special for so long. And for as long as it does last, we’re just so grateful for you being here.

Will there be a new Brand New album next year? Mother of pearl, I hope so! “Mene” can NOT be their last release. I know I want more!

What’s your take on this impending hiatus/self-rediscovery/family time/adulting cliff hanger?
