Hayley Kiyoko Alcroft has been in the spotlight since a young girl. She was born in 1991 in Los Angeles, California and by the age of five, she was scouted for modeling and acting. Kiyoko has appeared in national commercials and has appeared in a variety of films including the “Scooby-Doo!” film series and the Disney Channel original show, “Lemonade Mouth.” By age eight, she showed interest in music and wrote her first song “Notice” — a hidden gem that her father still insists she should release.

Kiyoko has a unique sound that draws from a range of genres including pop, indie, and electro-pop resulting in a style that is uniquely her own making her one of the hottest artists in the industry. In 2018, she was nominated for two VMAS and won Push Artist of the Year and was named “The 21st Century’s Most Influential Women Musicians” by NPR. After winning her first VMA award, she considered changing her stage name but her fans, nicknamed “Kiyokians” convinced her to keep the name.

Kiyoko came out as lesbian to her parents at a young age and a huge part of her legacy as an artist is due to her advocacy for the LGBTQ community. Her fans consider her to be a gay icon and have nicknamed her “Lesbian Jesus.” Since releasing her landmark debut album EXPECTATIONS in 2018 Kiyoko has been seen as a huge influence toward the LGBTQ community. The album includes popular singles such as “Sleepover,” and “Curious” where the music videos portray representations of relationships and flirtations between women. According to Rolling Stone, the album placed her “at the forefront of an unapologetically queer pop movement.” She consistently highlights LGBT issues in her music videos to bring normalization and awareness to the community. She is also known for donating to multiple organizations that support the gay communities.
