Los Angeles Celtic punk group Flogging Molly are bringing their raucous take on Irish folk music to House of Blues Orlando on Friday, April 29, 2016. The band’s current tour follows the release of “The Hand of John L. Sullivan”, their first new song in five years.

Like fellow folk-punks Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly combine the electric guitars of rock with traditional folk instruments for a sound that is a legitimate fusion of the two styles. Flogging Molly are influenced by traditional folk songs and while they do perform and record them, it’s their original material that best explores the collision of these styles. The band, lyrically and musically, draws parallels between the anxieties of contemporary America and those of the much older Ireland, for a result that feels both culturally rich and visceral.
