EDC Orlando 2016

Festival Preview: Electric Daisy Carnival | Coming to Orlando November 4 & 5, 2016 | Tinker Field

by • September 14, 2016

Electric Daisy Carnival or EDC is a raging dance party that always tours and never really stops. The theatrical caravan was developed by Insomniac Events back in the 1990s starting with EDC Las Vegas, and this interview with Party Favor, who was on the 2014 EDC Vegas lineup, over at themusicninja.com
shows it’s still one of those dream-come-true gigs for artists over a decade later. Currently, there are eleven other dates and one of them luckily pauses in Orlando November 4th and 5th. EDC has been raging here every year since 2011 despite drawing only 32,000 fans collectively its first year. Since then, the festival has steadily climbed in popularity leading up to 2016’s outstanding lineup.

EDC Orlando dropped its lineup last month and everybody, including myself, was incredibly overjoyed with the possible outcome. When a festival drops its lineup, it’s that same feeling as Christmas morning and you open up your biggest gift. If this was Christmas it would be safe to say we all were on Santa’s nice list. This year includes some EDM Veterans like Bassnectar and Axwell, as well as Porter Robinson coming in for his third year. Two new names this year are one of the hottest duos in the game, The Chainsmokers, and hard hitting trap artist, RL Grime.

Bassnectar is one of the founding fathers of the EDM world. He fell in love with the community in the 1990s and used to play sets at Burning Man. Fast forward nearly 20 years and he still is one of the most popular DJs in the industry, having a worldwide fanbase that idolizes him.

Porter Robinson is all I hear about at festivals. His sets make grown men cry as he closes nights after the headliners finish. The Chainsmokers have never played EDC Orlando. It’s really important we make them feel welcomed so they come back. Forever. Their worldly known “#SELFIE” single has put the duo on a rocket ship of success. Below is one of my favorite sets to listen to.

Some fans, like myself, are new to this world. It takes time taking in the transition. You could say I was introduced to EDM at Okeechobee Music Festival this past March. I know I’m not alone, though. This year will be full of new and old fans alike, taking a part in the P.L.U.R. community.

Electric Daisy Carnival is known to be an adult playground with artistic stages, carnival attractions of all sorts, Funkdafied Freaks, and moving artwork. Most importantly, their prices have stayed nearly the same. EDC recognizes its audience is your typical broke college kids and keeps their prices fair. Even highest tier prices will leave some change in your pocket to splurge on food or a locker with a charger inside to help you post your weekend away.

There are VIP passes available for every festival goers’ budget, starting at $300 for the weekend and increasing depending on your taste and needs … Whatever way you chose to party that weekend, be safe and mindful of others and party responsibly. If you see me in my Shows I Go To shirt, lets trade kandi and take a picture together — maybe even a selfie.
