Freak Out! was the debut studio album by Frank Zappa and his band the Mothers of Invention, released June 27, 1966. It is one of rock’s earliest concept albums, and was also one of the earliest double albums in rock music. The album is a satirical expression Zappa’s perception of American pop culture. Frank’s son and fellow guitarist, Dweezil Zappa, continues to honor his father in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Freak Out! Dweezil and his band formerly known as Zappa Plays Zappa will reunite again for 14 dates this January. The tour stops in St. Pete at Jannus Live on Sunday, January 15.
