Datsik Orlando 2018

PREVIEW: Datsik and Space Jesus “Ninja Nation 2018 Tour” | Coming to House of Blues Orlando | Wednesday, January 18, 2018

British Columbia-native Troy Beetles, a.k.a. Datsik, has managed to do far more than just keep up with the trends in the electronic music community. By continuing to produce original music which showcases the versatility of his style, he’s lifted dubstep fans to their feet for almost a full decade.

While his first adventures in producing involved working on hip-hop in his bedroom, after meeting Excision in 2008, it was full speed ahead with his focus on the grimy beats which would soon grow a generation of “headbangers.” His collaborations with 12th Planet, Excision, and even Snoop Dogg have kept him relevant and killing it, and it doesn’t look like he plans on stopping any time soon.

His surprise appearance at EDC Orlando 2016 as a guest DJ alongside LVMBERJACK during 12th Planet’s set was met with an explosion of enthusiastic cheers, making it one of many memorable, “you-had-to-be-there” moments. House of Blues will be nothing short of that, especially when you factor in his supporting acts.

Jasha Tull, known under the moniker of Space Jesus, is no newbie to the scene. But he’s taken off in the last few years after performing at large-scale festivals including Mysteryland in New York, Okeechobee in Florida, and even Shambhala in Canada.

Drawing inspiration from the Indian and African music that his father played for him, along with hip-hop artists that he listened to growing up (such as MF Doom), he manages to incorporate a cultural element into his trippy trap-hop beats. But don’t expect him to pull any punches; the hard-hitting trap and bass artist plays just as much dirt and wonky wubs as he does groovy vibes. With his narration and stellar auditory manipulation, Space Jesus takes you on a space odyssey of galactic proportions from the moment he jumps behind his tables.

Wooli (https://soundcloud.com/woolimusic) and Riot Ten (https://soundcloud.com/riotten) will also share the stage that night, and they’re just as likely to blow you away with their filthy, other-worldly jams.

The tour will feature Datsik’s Shogun Stage, which was first introduced on his “Ninja Nation 2017 Tour.” Of course, he’ll also be armed with his “Shaolin Bass,” courtesy of PK Sound (https://www.pksound.ca/live), which calls for the hot and heavy sound production that’s become so identifiable—and sought after—in the bass event community.

So try not to break your neck at the drop.

“The Ninja Nation 2018 Tour” will have three other Florida dates in Tallahassee, Tampa, and Pompano Beach. Presale tickets for fan club members start at $18.
