Hailing from Sacramento, California, Dance Gavin Dance formed in 2005. The group currently consists of vocalist Jon Mess, lead guitarist Will Swan, rhythm guitarist Andrew Wells, and drummer Matthew Mingus. After being on the scene for so long, the band continues to grow as musicians of their craft. Their music has been described as everything from post-hardcore and emo to jazz fusion and screamo. And it is no surprise, as the members have cited their most influences in everyone from MF Doom and Radiohead to Deftones and Earth, Wind, and Fire.

The members of Dance Gavin Dance put all they got into what they do. Each album becomes a shared creation between everyone involved. Many bands we know of usually have one or two members that will do all the composition, lyrics, mixing, etc., but not our boys at DGD. “Will loves writing riffs and song structures, and everybody else loves putting their taste and influence on it, so it kind of just happens. We never really have to say ‘Okay guys let’s hunker down and do the album now’, like, the albums usually just come in between touring cycles naturally which is nice.” What more could you ask from a band that truly puts passion into their music other than Dance Gavin Dance?
