Switchfoot hails from San Diego, California led by Jon Foreman, his brother Tim Foreman on bass, as well as drummer Chad Butler, and guitarist Jerome Fontamillas. Switchfoot first gained mainstream recognition with the inclusion of four of their songs in the 2002 movie A Walk to Remember. This recognition led to their major label debut, The Beautiful Letdown, which was released in 2003 and featured the hits “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move”. The album sold over 2.6 million copies.
Collective Soul comes from our neighbor state Georgia. Forming in 1992, the group consists of lead vocalist Ed Roland, rhythm guitarist Dean Roland, bassist Will Turpin, drummer Johnny Rabb, and lead guitarist Jesse Triplett. Inspired by the peak of the grunge movement, Collective Soul brings their own style of angsty grunge, heavy rock, and a drive that just won’t quit. The band has found loads of success throughout the years, especially with their 1995 self-titled album which spent 76 weeks on the Billboard 200 charts and went TRIPLE-platinum, becoming the band’s highest-selling album and one of the best rock albums to come from the mid-’90s.
Commenting on the band’s newest release, lead singer Ed Roland had this to say, “I think we’re on a roll…We’re not afraid to stretch the boundaries, but we do know how to stay in our lane when we need to. Sometimes, though, we just have to go faster.” There is no doubt these guys have been around the band once or twice. Considering this is the band that wrote the song “Shine” shows me a thing or two about the effort and passion they will put into any project, because that song is pure rock to the veins! So come on down on September 14th to Clearwater and witness the one and only Collective Soul! And don’t forget to enter the giveaway for one fantastic night. PURCHASE TICKETS HERE!
