Classic Country Covers 5 | Coming to Will’s Pub, Orlando, FL | Thursday, September 29, 2016

I’m staring at the star-shaped lights in Stardust feeling like I’ve had it wrong this whole time. They’re twinkling haughtily at me as if to say, “I told you so.” The various bottled whiskey’s sit just below; a compliment to the crooning of such a drink by one Chris Stapleton. I’m the furthest thing away from engraved leather boots, fields for days, and ten gallon hats — all the entities I’ve tied to Country music all these years. Yet, here I sit in this coffee shop finally feeling as if I’ve grasped the genre which is Country music. It is all of the comforts of life. It is a dangerous safety. It’s camaraderie. It is home. Come home with us this Thursday at Will’s Pub for Classic Country Covers 5. All of your family will be there, the whole gang!

(Ok, deep breath.) Andy Matchett, Eugene Snowden, Stephen Rock, Phil Longo, Kaleigh Baker, Bob Green, Stephan & Yardis, Beartoe, Wheeler Newman, Rickey Dickens, Tommy Cooper, Jordan Schneider, Alan Cowart, Jacob Miller and Brian Chodorcoff (phew!) are all set to proudly stand in front of that beautiful Will’s Pub sign which hangs above the stage and sing classic country tunes. Maybe you’re still iffy on the idea of an all country evening but rest assured in the cause for the event. Will’s will be taking canned food donations as part of a drive for Fern Creek’s Elementary food pantry program. When you bring some canned goods you bump one dollar off the cover of $6! AND if you bring 10 items, you get a FREE shot from guitarist Brian Chodorcoff. Ah, free liquor, another incredible sensibility adopted by the Country community. I think I’m getting the hang of this.

Wear a flannel. Hang a piece of straw out of the side of your mouth. Or don’t. Just come with your heart perched on your shoulder and be ready to sing along late into the night with good people. Music starts at 9 and carries on until 2am. Welcome home.

Oh, and remember,

Everybody’s, somebody, someday
Everybody’s got a part to play
Everybody’s trying to find a way
To say, what needs saying.

(I know that Chris Stapleton isn’t “Classic Country” as far as the age of his albums, but, seriously, just give it time. And besides, as they say in the movies, this is my damn dream and I get to paint it however the hell I want, okay?!) 😉
