I was born a coal miner’s daughter. I knew every lyric to the Loretta Lynn song about it by the time I was four.
Â
An ear for harmony was a gift I inherited from my mother, and one of my favorite moments using it was sitting on the steps at The Social, holding hands with Alexander from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, belting out “Brother.” My dad spent years following the Grateful Dead, and my grandmother was the leading soprano in countless theater productions. Music is in my blood, and I enjoy writing about it.
Â
If you can’t find me in boots at a local show or barefoot at a festival, chances are I’m working at House of Blues Orlando, or practicing and teaching yoga. I’m a University of Central Florida graduate with a passion for compassion and a belief that every moment in life has a soundtrack.
