CASE WORK are elusive as hell. Blink and they’ve slipped through your hands. Wait and you’ll never see. It’s a feeling. It’s timing, and we all know how much of an everlasting bitch she can be. The indie-pop quartet have been around since 2012 but have recently taken a backseat. There’s no need to fret, though, silence before a storm. One eager fan comment on their Facebook page yields a sigh of relief as the band answers with, “we have some new things in the works!” Breathe easy CASE WORK’ers, it’s coming and truly, good things come to those who wait. What we already have in our hands is proof of the powers already at work.
The single, “Hanging Out,” is bedroom jam, nighttime-drive material at its best. The track doesn’t brag. It doesn’t boast or talk a big game. The guitars enter gently and caressing vocals follow with,
I just want to, I just want to hang out with you.”
Simplicity beats bravado every day of the week. CASE WORK takes the simple, most basic human desire of companionship and adds superb instrumental backing. Do not close your eyes. Do not look away. Are you watching? CASE WORK is coming and I’ll be there, palms up, just greedy fingers, attempting to grasp whatever they have for me to nourish myself with.
Ryan Fleming and Gregg Blachstein (honestly, a fantastic surname inheritance,) are here to blow you the f*ck away. The Orlando two who comprise Copper Bones have no qualms serving up gritty visuals and grungy guitar and I have no problem lapping it up. These two have a certified garage sound that’ll have you shaking any hair you have left on your head. They are rugged, raw, and ready to rock. Come with your shoulders up, things might get heavy. 😉
This lineup is a testament to Orlando’s depth and diversity in music. Catch our friends, Panther Camp, before they head off to their FEST 15 performance. If you missed their EP Release Pizza Party, dang, what were you doing?! Okay, we all have work and 9 to 5’s and significant others who’d rather watch The Voice on a Saturday night but this is a Wednesday and it’s time to drag our sorry butts to see these dudes rock the hell out! They are a dynamic live performance worth leaving the house for, rest assured.
Dumber Bunnies and Dial Drive round out this killer weekday; add in the FREE BEER from 8-9pm and you’ve got yourself one heck of a night!
