Trucks is a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, one of the greatest and most influential bands of all time. The Allman Brothers have enjoyed over forty years of success and devotion. Through it all, Trucks’ drums have forced us to rise and take notice.

The stories of a career such as that of Trucks and The Allman Brothers Band have filled volumes. They have played with and are revered by just about everyone who matters, and used that success to help the masses wake up to the need for love and progress in American society.

The secret to their influential success is not terribly mysterious. They play smart, creative music using some of the greatest rock n’ roll musicians in the world. The lineup has changed over the years, but any voids have been filled by the likes of Warren Haynes and Trucks’s nephew, Derek. Constant through it all has been Butch Trucks keeping time with his driving drum work.

Trucks’ style of play is so intense he has dealt with myriad injuries — a total knee replacement a few years ago, spurs removed from his right shoulder, an arthritic toe. He has given us plenty to celebrate over forty years and could easily rest on his laurels. But, as Trucks told Relix magazine in 2009,

About halfway through the first song something happens and I’m an 18-year-old kid again. And for the next two or three hours I can tear the world up, I just feel like Superman and for about an hour after the show I’m riding that high.”
