The “Blazing Arrow” that is Blackalicious will be soaring its way through St. Petersburg, FL on August 12th at State Theatre! (Win Tickets Below.)
Standing out in the hip-hop genre, you will find a welcoming sound by Sacramento’s finest. This West Coast duo consists of rapper Gift of Gab, and DJ/Producer Chief Xcel. If you want to hear thumping, yet “classic” beats, Chief Xcel will be serving them. If you like complex and thoughtful rhymes about something other than how many cars and houses an artist may, or at least pretend to own, Gift of Gab will be spitting them.
Blackalicious have been spreading their positive, and sometimes spiritual, music since the early ’90s. If you haven’t heard of Blackalicious, you may know them by their tongue twisting song, Alphabet Aerobics which has had a viral popularity boost recently thanks to Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe performing it on Jimmy Fallon. Blackalicious is going out on tour in hopes to get you excited about Imani Vol.1, their fifth studio album which is set to drop on September 18th.
If you feel like you are one of those people who have yearned for the days when hip-hop used to stand for something or if you just like hip-hop in general, you will want to check out Blackalicious at the State Theatre on August 12th in St. Petersburg. Supporting them is New Orleans’ own, New Breed Brass Band. Yeah, an awesome brass band from New Orleans who is worth the price of admission alone. Come on out on the 12th and open your ear holes for what will be a great night for music lovers!
