Let’s go country music fans! Round up the kids, fill-up that pitcher of sweet tea, grab some beers, and let’s load-up the pick-up truck! We’re headed up to see Billy Currington! TWO SHOWS — one on the West Coast on Friday, Sep 09 at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL (GET TICKETS HERE!) and another one on the East Coast on Saturday, September 09 at The Amp in St. Augustine (GET TICKETS HERE!). This fantastic evening of country music headlined by Billy Currington features special guests Noah Guthrie and Matt Koziol.
Currington’s move from construction worker to country singer has been meteoric. He was working sixteen hours a day pouring cement before cutting his 2003 single, “Walk A Little Straighter Daddy.” He cycled through jobs before his personal trainer gig helped him meet the right publishing executive. Together they found time in a studio for Billy to produce his self-titled debut album.
So, come out for Currington’s monster hit, “Do I Make You Wanna,” but stay for his performance of “Good Directions,” “People Are Crazy” (Grammy nominated in ‘10 for Male Country Vocal Performance), and “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” which won CMT’s Hottest Video of the Year in ‘06.
Billy is of course the reason to cruise coast-to-coast, first over to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, then up to The Amp in St. Augustine, but you should also check out former “Glee” cast member Noah Guthrie. He was on the final season of the show before taking a spin on Dancing with the Stars and America’s Got Talent. He will bring his own brand of americana and country to this denim party. Finally the opening act for the show is Matt Koziol, a rockin’ country singer from New Jersey.
Ruth Eckerd Hall, located in sunny Clearwater, FL, is is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization changing lives through preforming arts. The beautiful theatre was founded in 1977 when a 38-acre parcel of land was donated to the City of Clearwater with the condition that the land be used for a performing arts center. Local philanthropist Jack Eckerd donated to the cause and purchased naming rights for the venue for his beloved Ruth. REH is a 73,000 square-foot facility that features a 2,180 comfy-seat auditorium, tuned perfectly with plenty of nearby concessions (don’t spill your beer!). It’s truly one of the most special places in Florida see witness a live performance.
The AMP is nestled between historic downtown Saint Augustine and the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Located on Anastasia Island, this five thousand seat venue attracts all kinds of amazing music to Northeast Florida. The Amp features beautiful camping areas right next to the venue! In addition, there is an awesome Front Porch stage and viewing area for smaller acts to entertain the crowd up front.
